Make a festive centerpiece for your holiday morning with these pull-apart cinnamon rolls shaped like a Christmas tree. This recipe uses simple steps to create a showstopper breakfast treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (12.4 ounce) package refrigerated cinnamon roll dough (like Pillsbury Grands!)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Green food coloring (optional, for festive glaze)
  • Red and green sprinkles or small candies for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven according to the package directions for the refrigerated dough. Lightly grease a large baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the cinnamon roll dough. Separate the rolls.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon together. Toss the separated cinnamon rolls in this mixture until lightly coated.
  4. Arrange the coated rolls on the prepared baking sheet to form a large triangle shape resembling a Christmas tree. Start with a wide base row and taper the rows toward the top point. Leave a small space between each roll so they expand and touch during baking.
  5. Bake the rolls according to the package instructions until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. While the rolls bake, prepare the glaze. Whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Add a few drops of green food coloring if you want a green glaze.
  7. Remove the baked rolls from the oven. Let them cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes.
  8. Drizzle the vanilla glaze over the warm cinnamon rolls, letting it drip down the sides of the tree shape.
  9. Immediately decorate the rolls with sprinkles and small candies to look like ornaments on the tree.
  10. Serve the rolls warm as a pull-apart bread for your Christmas morning breakfast or holiday brunch.

Notes

  • If you prefer a richer flavor, substitute the canned dough with your favorite homemade yeast dough recipe.
  • For a thicker, cream cheese style frosting, add 2 ounces of softened cream cheese to the glaze mixture.
  • You can use star-shaped sprinkles or a single star candy at the top point to represent a tree topper.
