Ingredients
Scale
1 pound bulk pork sausage
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
2 cups Bisquick (or similar baking mix)
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, combine the bulk pork sausage, softened cream cheese, Bisquick, and shredded cheddar cheese.
Mix all ingredients thoroughly with your hands until they are just combined. Do not overmix.
Roll the mixture into small, uniform balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
Place the sausage balls onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch between them.
Bake for 18 to 20 minutes, or until the sausage balls are golden brown and cooked through.
Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly on the pan before serving warm.
Notes
For a spicy version, add 1/2 cup of drained, diced Rotel tomatoes to the mixture.
You can prepare the balls ahead of time and store them covered in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before baking.
These freeze well. Place baked sausage balls on a baking sheet to freeze solid, then transfer to a freezer bag. Reheat in the oven at 350 degrees F until hot.
