Create the signature creamy, tangy flavor of the classic burger sauce using simple pantry staples. This special sauce copycat is ready in minutes and perfect for burgers, fries, and sandwiches.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon sweet pickle juice (from the relish jar)
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Pinch of paprika

Instructions

  1. Gather all your ingredients in a small bowl.
  2. Add the mayonnaise, sweet pickle relish, yellow mustard, white vinegar, sweet pickle juice, onion powder, garlic powder, and paprika to the bowl.
  3. Stir all ingredients together until the sauce is completely smooth and uniform in color.
  4. Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning if needed; add a tiny bit more vinegar for tang or relish for sweetness.
  5. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the sauce for at least 30 minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to blend.
  6. Use this creamy burger topping on your smash burgers, as a dip for fries, or as a sandwich spread.

Notes

  • For the best flavor replication, let the sauce chill for at least one hour.
  • This sauce keeps well in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • If you want a slightly healthier special sauce alternative, substitute half the mayonnaise with plain Greek yogurt.
  • This recipe is naturally gluten free.
