Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 head iceberg or romaine lettuce, chopped
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup Catalina dressing
  • 1 bag (9.25 oz) Nacho Cheese flavored Doritos, slightly crushed

Instructions

  1. Cook the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Stir in the taco seasoning mix and water. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat.
  3. In a very large bowl, layer the ingredients. Start with the chopped lettuce.
  4. Top the lettuce with the seasoned ground beef mixture.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded cheese, diced tomatoes, and sliced black olives evenly over the beef.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together the sour cream and Catalina dressing until smooth.
  7. Drizzle the dressing mixture over the salad layers.
  8. Just before serving, sprinkle the crushed Doritos over the top of the salad. Toss gently or serve components separately for guests to build their own bowls.

Notes

  • For a low-carb option, substitute the Doritos with crushed tortilla chips or baked tortilla strips.
  • You can prepare the seasoned beef ahead of time to speed up assembly.
  • Use your favorite taco toppings like salsa, jalapeños, or avocado slices.
