Ingredients
Scale
2 (14.5 ounce) cans cut green beans, drained
1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon soy sauce
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 1/3 cups crispy fried onions, divided
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 1.5-quart casserole dish.
In a large bowl, combine the drained green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, and black pepper. Mix these ingredients until they are fully blended.
Stir in 1/3 cup of the crispy fried onions into the green bean mixture.
Pour the mixture into your prepared casserole dish and spread it evenly.
Bake for 25 minutes.
Remove the casserole from the oven. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of crispy fried onions evenly over the top.
Return the casserole to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the casserole is bubbly.
Let the green bean casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
You can prepare this casserole up to one day ahead. Combine all ingredients except the topping, cover, and refrigerate. Add the topping and bake as directed, adding 5-10 minutes to the initial bake time if baking straight from the refrigerator.
For a Southern Green Bean Casserole variation, add 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese to the bean mixture before baking.
If you want a quick version, you can prepare this in an air fryer at 320°F (160°C) for about 15 minutes, then top with onions and air fry for 2-3 more minutes until golden.
