Make these adorable, festive Grinch Oreo Balls for a fun, no-bake holiday treat perfect for parties or gifting. They feature a creamy Oreo center coated in bright green candy melts and topped with a small red heart.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (14.3 oz) Oreo cookies (about 36 cookies)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 12 oz green candy melts or green chocolate coating wafers
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable shortening (optional, for smoother melting)
  • Small red heart sprinkles or red candy pearls for decoration

Instructions

  1. Place the Oreo cookies into a food processor and pulse until you have fine crumbs. If you do not have a food processor, place cookies in a large zip-top bag and crush them with a rolling pin.
  2. Transfer the cookie crumbs to a medium bowl. Add the softened cream cheese. Mix with a spatula or clean hands until the mixture is completely combined and forms a thick dough.
  3. Roll the dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter. You should get approximately 24 to 30 balls. Place the balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Chill the Oreo balls in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to firm them up. This step helps prevent them from falling apart when dipping.
  5. Melt the green candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl according to package directions. Stir in the vegetable shortening, if using, to achieve a smoother consistency for dipping.
  6. Working with one ball at a time, drop it into the melted green coating. Use a fork or a dipping tool to roll the ball completely in the coating. Lift the ball out, tapping the fork gently against the side of the bowl to let excess coating drip off.
  7. Place the coated ball back onto the parchment-lined baking sheet. Immediately press one small red heart sprinkle onto the top of the green coating to resemble the Grinch’s heart.
  8. Allow the candy coating to set completely at room temperature, or speed up the process by chilling them in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes.
  9. Serve these bite-sized holiday sweets or store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • If you use Red Velvet Oreos instead of regular Oreos, the filling will have a slight red tint, adding another layer of festive color.
  • If the cream cheese is too cold, the mixture will be crumbly. Make sure it is fully softened to room temperature.
  • For easy storage and gifting, place the finished balls into small paper candy cups.
