1 cup whole wheat flour
1 scoop (30g) vanilla whey protein powder
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 cup milk
2 tbsp melted butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, protein powder, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Pour about 1/2 cup of batter onto the hot waffle iron and cook until golden brown and cooked through.
Repeat with the remaining batter.
Notes
For extra flavor, add 1/4 cup of berries or chocolate chips to the batter.
To make ahead, cool the waffles completely and store them in a freezer-safe bag for up to 1 month. Reheat in a toaster or oven.
