A simple recipe for fresh, homemade guacamole perfect for parties and game days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe avocados
  • 1/2 small red onion, finely diced
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • Optional: 1 jalapeño, seeded and minced

Instructions

  1. Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a medium bowl.
  2. Mash the avocado with a fork to your desired consistency. For chunky guacamole, leave some larger pieces.
  3. Add the diced red onion, chopped cilantro, lime juice, and salt to the bowl.
  4. If using, add the minced jalapeño.
  5. Stir everything together until well combined.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  7. Serve immediately or cover tightly with plastic wrap, pressing the wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole to prevent browning.

Notes

  • To prevent browning when making ahead, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole.
  • For a spicier guacamole, leave some seeds in the jalapeño.
  • Serve with tortilla chips, as a topping for tacos, or alongside your favorite Mexican dishes.
