Make a rich, creamy Pumpkin Spice Latte at home that tastes better than the café version. This easy recipe uses real pumpkin puree and warm spices for the perfect fall coffee treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 2 tablespoons pumpkin puree (not pie filling)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup strong brewed coffee or 12 shots of espresso
  • Whipped cream and extra spice for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the milk, pumpkin puree, sugar, pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla extract in a small saucepan.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly until it is hot and steaming, but do not let it boil.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat. For a smoother texture, you can strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to remove any pumpkin solids, though this step is optional.
  4. Pour the hot coffee or espresso into your mug.
  5. Pour the warm pumpkin-spice milk mixture over the coffee.
  6. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of extra pumpkin pie spice if desired. Enjoy this comforting autumn beverage immediately.

Notes

  • To make this an Iced Pumpkin Latte, chill the milk mixture completely after heating and straining. Combine with cold espresso and pour over ice.
  • Control your sweetness by reducing the sugar to 1 tablespoon for a less sweet drink.
  • If you do not have pumpkin pie spice, mix 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, a pinch of nutmeg, and a pinch of ground ginger.
