Make classic lasagna flavor in one skillet in 30 minutes. This recipe uses ground beef and no-boil noodles for quick cleanup and satisfying comfort food.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (24 ounce) jar marinara sauce
  • 1 (15 ounce) can water
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 9 no-boil lasagna noodles, broken into thirds
  • 1 (15 ounce) container ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large, deep skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook until soft, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
  3. Pour in the marinara sauce and water. Stir in the oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  4. Nestle the broken lasagna noodles into the sauce mixture, ensuring they are mostly submerged. Cover the skillet and cook for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the noodles are tender. Stir gently halfway through cooking to prevent sticking.
  5. While the noodles cook, mix the ricotta cheese, egg, and parsley in a small bowl until combined.
  6. Once the noodles are cooked, remove the skillet from the heat. Drop spoonfuls of the ricotta mixture over the top of the sauce.
  7. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the ricotta layer. Cover the skillet again and let it stand for 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Serve directly from the skillet.

Notes

  • For a healthier option, substitute ground turkey or chicken for the ground beef.
  • You can add finely chopped vegetables like zucchini or mushrooms with the onion for extra nutrition.
  • Use no-boil lasagna noodles to skip the boiling step and reduce cleanup.
