A simple recipe for a fresh tuna poke bowl, inspired by Hawaiian cuisine. This DIY poke bowl is easy to make and perfect for a healthy meal.

  • 1 pound sushi-grade Ahi tuna, cubed
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 cups cooked sushi rice
  • 1/2 cup diced cucumber
  • 1/2 cup diced avocado
  • 1/4 cup sliced green onions
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon masago or tobiko (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, ginger, garlic, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  2. Add the cubed tuna to the marinade and toss gently to coat. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes in the refrigerator.
  3. Divide the cooked sushi rice among two bowls.
  4. Top the rice with the marinated tuna, cucumber, avocado, and green onions.
  5. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and masago or tobiko (if using).
  6. Serve immediately.

  • Ensure you are using sushi-grade tuna for safe consumption of raw fish.
  • Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to your spice preference.
