Make rich, creamy white hot chocolate on the stovetop using real white chocolate. This easy recipe delivers a smooth, comforting beverage perfect for cozy winter nights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 8 ounces good quality white chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Pour the milk into a medium saucepan. Heat the milk over medium heat until it just begins to steam around the edges. Do not let it boil.
  2. Reduce the heat to low. Add the chopped white chocolate to the warm milk.
  3. Whisk constantly until the white chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth. This may take several minutes.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the vanilla extract and the pinch of salt.
  5. Pour the white hot chocolate into mugs. Serve immediately with your preferred toppings.

Notes

  • Use white chocolate bars or high-quality chips for the best flavor and texture. Avoid using white baking wafers, as they may not melt smoothly.
  • For a Starbucks copycat version, add 1 tablespoon of heavy cream per serving before heating.
  • Top with whipped cream, mini marshmallows, or a sprinkle of cinnamon.
